With the EU
Institutions of the European Commission are important partners of co-operation. Close connections in radiation protection are maintained with DG TREN H4 - Radiation Protection. Members of staff of the Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) take part in activities of group of experts of Article 31 of the Euratom Treaty and FP6 Consultative Committee for the Research and Training Programme (EURATOM) in the Field of Nuclear Energy (Fission) – CCE-FISSION.

The Institute for Transuranium Elements of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC
An important partner in creation of the analysis system of seized radioactive materials. Cooperation with the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission helps in creation of the system of quality assurance. Problems of radionuclides in environment (e.g., indoor radon) are dealt with in cooperation with the Institute for Environment and Sustainability of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

Heads of European Radiological Protection Competent Authorities (HERCA).
RSC is participating in the activities of HERCA working groups. RSC was engaged in the drafting and coor¬dinating the European Radiation Passbook for Outside Work¬ers, developing recommendations for discharging patients treated with radioactive iodine, a position paper on justifica¬tion of use of body scanners for detection of concealed ob¬jects inside or on the human body.

European training and education in radiation protection platform (EUTERP
EUTERP project established for supporting harmonization in the field of education and training systems for radiation protection experts and better integrate radiation protection education and training systems into general vocational training and education infrastructures. RSC is member in this project.

European Dosimetry Group (EURADOS
RSC took part in EURADOS whole body dosimeters Intercomparison 2010, filled out a questionnaire of EURADOS on monitoring of the public and liquidators of radiation accidents and post-exposure treatment.

European Study on Occupational Radiation Exposure (ESOREX)
The purpose of the Study is to collect and provide data on personal radiation monitoring, data on individual and collective radiation exposure in occupational sectors where workers handle sources in European countries. In symposium “ESOREX 2010” on the Assessment and Evaluation of Occu¬pational Radiation Exposure in Europe, a representative of RSC delivered a presentation on the procedure of monitoring occupational exposure, recording and storing of dosimetric results in Lithuania.

Safety and Efficacy Programme of New Dental X-ray Modality (SEDENTEX)
RSC have participated in the SEDENTEXCT project funded by the European Community Seventh Euratom Framework Programme. The project aims to develop qual¬ity assurance programmes in dental practice and guidelines on safe use of cone beam computer tomography in dental practice and to establish reference levels of patient doses for dental procedures, focusing on child dosimetry. Together with 6 Eu¬ropean universities RSC and Vilnius University (VU) measure patient doses, and results of the measurements will be used to establish reference levels of patient exposure doses for dental practice.
