Traces of Iodine-131 Detected in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant’s Zone Air have no Impact on Health or Environment

     18–23 February 2018, in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant’s (hereafter – NPP) zone the trace amounts of radioactive iodine-131 (hereafter – 131I) has been detected in the air.

International Physical Protection Advisory Service mission will focus on physical protection regime in Lithuania

     9 October 2017 International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) starts two-week (9-20 October) International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) mission in Lithuania. Mission is to review the legislative and regulatory framework for nuclear security as well as the physical protection of nuclear material and facilities, including computer security.

The IAEA Representer Visited the Radiation Protection Centre

    The 28th of September Ms Tomo Furusawa, Programme Management Officer for Lithuania of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has visited Radiation Protection Center. Ms Tomo Furusawa is responsible for the IAEA national technical cooperation projects implemented in Lithuania.

Belgian radiation protection experts visited Radiation Protection Centre

     On 9–12 May, 2017 experts Isabelle Dumont and Benoît Deconninck from Belgian Institute for radioelements (IRE) and its subsidiary (IRE-Elit) visited Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) under the implementation RPC and IRE cooperation agreement 2017 in a frame to improve safety of nuclear facilities in Eastern and Central Europe countries and CIS.
