Director of Radiation protection centre (RPC) Albinas Mastauskas was awarded for merit in public safety in Lithuania on 22 January 2010. The award was presented by the Lieutenant Colonel Vigandas Kurkulis on behalf of Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of Interior. Apart from this the letter of commendation for merits in public safety, self-denial work and qualified assistance in organizing a radiological emergency exercises "Cesium" held in November 2008 in Birstonas was awarded to the head of division of radiological investigations of RPC, Rima Ladygiene.

RPC collaborates with Fire and Rescue Department since its establishment. This cooperation was validated by the cooperation agreement signed on 4 December 2007 that covers basic fields of cooperation between the authorities and exchange of information on incidents, extreme situations and emergencies associated with increasing of radioactive contamination or ionizing radiation level. Agreement undertakes assisting to each other with the available equipment, facilities, holding joint practical exercises, trainings, providing guidance on legislation.

This agreement is successfully implemented and had already come to good cooperation. RPC specialists lectures in Fire-fighters Training School and participate in practice organized by Fire and Rescue Department. RPC is going to continue the collaboration with Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of Interior in organizing of joint practical exercises and radiation protection trainings for the fire-fighters this year.
