Radiation Protection Centre took part in workshop of the project „Training Schemes on Nuclear Safety Culture for Managers“
On 17th and 18th January 2012 in Manchester was organized the 4th workshop of the project „Training Schemes on Nuclear Safety Culture for Managers“ (TRASNUSAFE). The workshop was organized by Dalton Nuclear Institute (The University of Manchester) according to European Commission (EC) funding the 7th Framework Programme. The Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) is one of the participant of the project TRASNUSAFE and was invited to take part in workshop using the web access.

RPC was invited to represent an on-line presentation about the training situation in Lithuania, the needs and gaps and skills shortages. On 18th January the director of the Department of Expertise and Exposure Monitoring Julius Žiliukas took part in workshop and for the TRASNUSAFE participants presented the presentation “Radiation protection training in Lithuania”. Also the director J. Žiliukas answered to the participants questions and shared the experience of RPC implementing the nuclear safety culture in the branch where are using ionizing radiation sources.

According to the 7th Framework Programme EC is funding the project TRASNUSAFE. The project aims at designing, developing and validating two training schemes on nuclear safety culture, with a common basis. The two training schemes are developed for professionals at a high level of managerial responsibilities for instance in nuclear installations or in the radiotherapy departments of hospitals. The project is thus aimed at addressing the needs of managers responsible for nuclear safety in the industrial as well as the medical sectors.
