7 June, 2012 International Conference “Public exposure and lessons learned during accidental events in the world” will be organized

The organizers of the International Conference are the Ministry of Health of Republic of Lithuania, Radiation Protection Centre of Lithuania, Lithuanian Radiation Protection Society.

Objective

The International Conference is organized to discuss issues of radiation protection, radioecology, evaluation of public exposure, nuclear safety, and development of nuclear energy, management of radioactive waste, preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological accidents and health effects of radiation.

The International Conference is dedicated to the 15 years activity of Radiation Protection Centre of Lithuania.

In Vilnius on 18-20 April 2012 IAEA and Radiation Protection Centre organized the Regional Workshop “Establishing a National Strategy for Education and Training in Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety” for Lithuanian and foreign specialists.

Compulsory training in radiation protection at Border Guard School

Based on cooperation agreement (2008) between Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) and State Border Guard Service at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania on 13 March 2012 RPC organized training in radiation protection for Border Guard School’s students.

Radiation Protection Centre took part in workshop of the project „Training Schemes on Nuclear Safety Culture for Managers“

On 17th and 18th January 2012 in Manchester was organized the 4th workshop of the project „Training Schemes on Nuclear Safety Culture for Managers“ (TRASNUSAFE). The workshop was organized by Dalton Nuclear Institute (The University of Manchester) according to European Commission (EC) funding the 7th Framework Programme. The Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) is one of the participant of the project TRASNUSAFE and was invited to take part in workshop using the web access.

For two days visit (30th November – 1st December) to Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) came group of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ensuring of radiation protection in the project development process of premises

Radiation shielding and other protective means shall be designed and evaluated on the project development process of premises to protect the workers and general public from dangerous impact of ionising radiation used in various activities (medical and non-medical). The radiation protection requirements for such premises are specified in Lithuanian hygiene standards.

Quality assurance using digital radiography or computed radiography systems

Since adaptation of digital technologies in X-ray diagnostics, a huge advance was made – a new generation equipment of X-ray diagnostics works faster and can provide more information. It is no wonder that healthcare institutions more often chooses to acquire these advanced technologies.
