24th anniversary of Chernobyl nuclear accident

More than 20 years the luminous spirit of spring is disturbed by gaunt memory of the nuclear accident at Chernobyl Nuclear power plant (NPP). Uneasiness is strengthened knowing the plans of our neighbors and our own regarding the construction of new NPPs. It is understood that new NPPs will have modern new generation reactors, which will be safe and will have less harmful impact on the environment and will be technologically well managed. However, sore experience after Chernobyl accident in spring of 1986 left the mark in the memory of people of Lithuania.
Cooperation agreement

Radiation Protection Centre (RPC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Lithuanian Geological Survey under the Ministry of Environment (LGT) on 1 April 2010

An Ex-deputy director of the Radiation Protection Centre, doctorate in physics, lecturer, author of children’s literature and an excellent human Gendrutis Morkunas lost he’s life at the end of 2009.
International Atomic Energy Agency Supports Radiation Protection Centre

Permanent Representation of Lithuania at the International Organizations in Vienna has sent for Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) the latest publications of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These publications include various topics of radiation protection: radiation protection in newest imaging technologies; safe transport of radioactive materials and other radiation safety issues. These relevant publications will be used by RSC specialists at their daily work. These publications are useful for other professionals whose work is related to radiation protection assurance.
International Conference

International conference Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety for the Enhancing Civil Security will take place on 24 September 2009 in Vilnius. The Conference is related with Presidency of Lithuania for the Baltic Sea States Council, July 2009 - June 2010.

Regional Training Course on Assessment of Occupational Exposure due to Intakes of Radionuclides will take place on 31 August-11 September 2009 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Head of Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) Mr. Albinas Mastauskas and Commander of the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania Saulius Stripeika signed a co-operation agreement on 17 July 2008.
Two representatives of Georgia are visiting the Radiation Protection Centre (RSC)

Two representatives of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Service of Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia Mr. D. Gabidzashvili and Mr. L. Gogua are visiting the Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) on July 14 – 25 with a purpose to survey Radiation Protection infrastructure in Lithuania and RSC activities ensuring Radiation Protection. During their fellowship most attention is paying on the topic of measurement and evaluation of public, patient and occupational exposure doses.
