Quality policy

Each state must protect people and the environment from unreasonable exposure to ionizing radiation and guarantee the safety of sources of ionizing radiation, constantly improve the legal framework regulating radiation protection, focus on public information and education in the radiation protection field. The Radiation Protection Centre is responsible for coordinating actions of the state, municipalities and other institutions in the field of radiation protection, state radiation protection supervision and control, assessment of public exposure and expertise.



To ensure the radiation protection of Lithuanian people and the environment against the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, while creating and implementing state policy in the field of radiation protection



The highest-level of radiation protection within the state, public and the environment protected from unjustified exposure to ionizing radiation, safe use of sources.


  • To carry out statutory functions effectively and efficiently;
  • To implement radiation protection policies of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of Health;
  • To comply with the requirements of the EN ISO 9001:2015, EN ISO / IEC 17025:2005 and the International Atomic Energy Agency's standards;
  • To ensure that safety is a top priority for all radiation protection issues;
  • To apply graded approach in the field of the state radiation protection regulation and to pay more attention and resources to those areas which are more important with regard to radiation protection;
  • To cooperate with Lithuanian, foreign and international organizations to ensure radiation protection;
  • To promote responsibility and professionalism of employees, their participation in ensuring quality of activities;
  • To create conditions for improvement of employees qualifications;
  • To strengthen safety culture;
  • To ensure publicity, transparency, reasonableness and comprehensibility of the activities and decisions taken;
  • To manage potential risks and eliminate nonconformities effectively ;
  • To use financial resources efficiently.
The management of the Radiation Protection Centre undertakes that the quality policy and its objectives will be publicly announced, comprehensible and implemented, the quality management system will be developed and continuously improved, and the system's integrity will be maintained while implementing changes.
