QUALITY POLICY
Each state is obliged:
- to provide protection against unreasonable influence of an ionising radiation on public;
- to guarantee safety of an ionising radiation sources;
- to improve the legal base regulating radiation safety;
- to give particular attention to the education and public information in the radiation protection field.
Radiation protection centre is the institution of state administration responsible for:
- Coordination of actions of state and other institutions in radiation safety field;
- State radiation protection supervision and the control;
- Assessment of public exposure and expertise
THE OBJECTIVES:
Maintenance of the protection against harmful influence of an ionising radiation on public and environment of the Republic of Lithuania.
THE PRIMARY GOALS AND AREAS OF ACTIVITY:
- Implementation of radiation protection policies of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of Health Care;
- Coordination of actions of state, municipal and other institutions in the radiation protection field;
- Issue and revision of the licences for work with the ionizing radiation sources, suspend the licences, cancel the suspension or cancels their validity;
- Control how natural and legal persons comply with the law of Radiation Protection of the Republic of Lithuania as well as other legal acts regulating radiation protection, and to apply administrative responsibility for violation of these legal acts;
- Administration of the State registry of the ionizing radiation sources and exposure of workers;
- Assessment of public exposure due to ionizing radiation and carrying out the expertise nationwide
- Training on radiation protection;
- Investigation of radiation accidents, forecast it‘s consequences and propose ways how to avoid and liquidate them;
- The personal workers contribution to the maintenance of the quality of activity.
THE DIRECTION OF THE CENTER UNDERTAKES:
- To compile with requirements of Quality management system operating in Radiation protection of the Control that is adequate to international standard LST EN ISO 9001:2008.
- To reconsider the Quality management system annually so that it remained appropriate;
- To define annually the measured purposes of quality under which the continuous improvement of quality will be provided and protection against harmful influence of an ionising radiation on public and environment will be reached;
- To improve Radiation protection infrastructure;
- To provide a transparency and publicity of activity, cooperation with the Lithuanian, foreign and international organisations;
- To establish conditions for building competence of stuff.
