Belgian radiation protection experts visited Radiation Protection Centre in November under the implementation the cooperation agreement between Radiation Protection Centre and the Institute for Radioelements and its subsidiary IRE EliT.

Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) hosts representatives from Croatian Regulatory Body, State Office for Radiological and Nuclear Safety (SORNS), from 2nd to 30th of November 2015 and from Serbian Regulatory Body, Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, from 9th of November to 4th of December. Ms Zdravka Tecic, Ms Zeljka Topolovac and Mr. Stefan Rafajlovic were delegated to the RSC by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Responding to the IAEA’s above mentioned recommendation Radiation Protection Centre on October 8th 2015 has organized table top exercises ,,Cooperation of institutions in dose projection and formulating recommendations on protective actions of the public in case of nuclear emergency”.

Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) has approved State Radiation Protection Supervision plan for the fourth quarter of 2015 with lists of planned inspections of licensed entities, conducting activities with ionising radiation sources.

2015-07-08 IAEA informational posters are available in Lithuanian language, concerning patient and staff radiation protection!

Encouraging radiation protection culture of staff, which performs radiodiagnostic procedures and refer patients, Radiation Protection Centre had translated International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) prepared posters. These posters contain essential information about ways and methods reducing patients and staff exposure to ionising radiation.

2015-07-08 Antique watch with radioactive radium isotope was found at Vilnius Airport

On 6th July 2015 Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) received the information from State Border Guard Service about detection of antique watch with radioactive Ra-226 (radium) isotope, which ranged 1.5 microSv/h dose rate in 10 cm distance, at Vilnius Airport. The watch was purchased at flea market in German and carried out to Lithuania.
